Dr. Jayaweera joined the Department <strong>of</strong> Paediatrics as Lecturer in April 2008. He had his<br />
postgraduate training in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, United Kingdom While in UK he attended<br />
and contributed to regional study days <strong>of</strong> the Eastern Deanery and was actively involved in<br />
updating hospital protocols. He has successfully completed Courses in Advance Paediatric Life<br />
Support (APLS) and Neonatal Life Support (NLS) courses conducted by Resuscitation Council<br />
UK. His areas <strong>of</strong> interest are paediatric neurology, neonatology and infectious diseases.<br />
He has conducted a MCQ course in Paediatrics for the final year undergraduates since joining<br />
the department. He has contributed to the CePELS Manual by writing the chapter on Drug Policy<br />
and has actively participates in postgraduate teaching sessions.<br />
He is the Congress Secretary <strong>of</strong> the PeMSAA in the current year. He is a very committed<br />
Paediatrician and an excellent teacher. He has contributed in many ways towards the smooth<br />
functioning <strong>of</strong> the department.<br />
