Find the Pachmayr pad that meets your needs.
Pachmayr has a pad that will fit the needs of almost every shooter. The
following suggestions will help you pinpoint your choices and find the
pad for you. The template samples shown on page 69 will help you select
the right size pad to fit your stock.
3. Pick the Face Texture
How much control do you require in your shoulder? Will you
be quick mounting or secure in your position for careful sighting?
Face Texture will also play a role in your selection. Pachmayr
offers several textures to optimize your shooting.
1. Select the Shape
What do you want the pad to do? How will you be using the rifle or shotgun?
This will determine the face shape for optimum control.
Skeet
A convex pad design to make mounting the gun
smooth without snagging. The skeet face is the best
choice for wing shooting, skeet, or sporting clays.
Light Face Texture
Leather and ribbed faces
are “light” face textures.
These will maximize your
speed when mounting.
Leather
Ribbed
Field
A combination of convex and concave shapes designed
as a compromise for fast mounting and positive
control.
Trap
A concave pad designed to provide a positive “hugging”
grip on the shoulder. Specifically designed for
Trap and Rifle shooting.
Medium Face
Texture
Screen and stipple are
“medium” face textures;
best for use in field
applications.
Line
Checkered
Stippled
How much recoil absorption do you need? Pachmayr pads are available
for all ranges of applications, from light to heavy recoil.
2. Consider the Core Design
Side Core
A side core design with the exposed
XXXX configuration is the ultimate
in recoil absorption because of the
“shock absorbing” effect offered by
the compressing “X” pattern. These
pads have a solid base and are the
best choice for those who may prefer
a soft sided pad.
Heavy Face Texture
Basketweave and grooved
are “heavy” face textures;
best for precision shooting
and big bore rifles. Our ultimate
heavy design is pigeon,
used ideally in live
bird shoots and trap.
Basket
weave
Grooved
Bottom Core
A bottom core design is softer in the
middle and has firmer sides to absorb
the sharpest recoil. A classic
appearance and availability in Decelerator
material makes this design
the most popular and most copied
Pachmayr design.
