Challenge america Grant<br />
Over 5,000 attended the production of Rent and musical<br />
highlights during Celebrate <strong>Erie</strong>.<br />
receipt of a $10,000 national Endowment for the arts challenge<br />
america grant provided a unique collaborative opportunity to<br />
merge the visual and performing<br />
arts for the <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>Playhouse</strong>,<br />
city of <strong>Erie</strong>, neighborhood art<br />
house and Evan Everhart.<br />
the project, One Curtain Falls,<br />
Another Rises: A New Lease<br />
on Life, supported the creation<br />
of a signature work by local<br />
metal sculptor Evan Everhart.<br />
Evan Everhart and Mayor Joseph Sinnott<br />
the piece was the visual focal<br />
point of the set for our production of Rent, available for public<br />
exhibition during celebrate <strong>Erie</strong>, and then gifted to the city of <strong>Erie</strong><br />
for permanent installation at Perry square. the <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>Playhouse</strong> is<br />
thrilled to participate in the revitalization and beautification of one<br />
of <strong>Erie</strong>’s inner-city parks.<br />
