FROM THE DESK OF THE VICE PRESIDENT AND DEAN OF STUDENTS:
Welcome to Orientation and to the start of your four years at Pomona College. We are delighted that you - the Class of
2016 - have arrived. Months have been spent planning for and anticipating this week when you would finally be part of
the College community.
All of the people you will meet including faculty, deans, sponsors, mentors, administrators, RA’s, and other
students want to help you adjust and find a place here. Pomona makes available to you a broad array of academic and
social experiences. You will have the opportunity to select a major and a career, learn to live with a roommate, try rock
climbing for the first time, speak another language and travel abroad. There are more choices to take advantage of than
any one person could possibly experience in four short years. Look for the set of interests and activities that will be
genuinely stimulating and satisfying to you. Use the systems that exist within the College to find help when you need it
and to gather information about opportunities. Be active both intellectually and socially, improve and contribute to those
things that merit your attention.
