Nazareth Home Gala Recognizes
Sister Barbara Kuper, PHJC
The atrium of the
Hammond Federal
Courthouse once again
became the festive
location for the Nazareth
Home’s annual Gala on
Thursday, October 21.

Michigan City.
Honored in a bittersweet
tribute that evening, was
Sister Barbara Kuper,
PHJC, who will be
leaving her position as
Sister Barbara Kuper, PHJC
Nazareth Home Director
and foster mother in 2011.
It was a touching display as those who have partnered
in the spirit of Nazareth Home were able to pay
tribute to Sister Barbara, who has spent the past 17
years playing the part of “angel to more than 150
medically compromised infants and children.” One
volunteer remarked that Sister Barbara is “a wonderful
ambassador of Christ.” The outpouring of love and
support was palpable when Toni Mola, Administrator
of Ancilla Systems Incorporated, presented Sister
Barbara with a plaque of recognition for her dedication.
The gala was not only a celebration of Sister Barbara’s
transition. As always, the focus was on the miracles of
Nazareth Home that give countless new beginnings
to children who may be otherwise forgotten. With
proceeds dedicated to operational costs of the home,
guests visited multiple chef stations and dined on
gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts while bidding on
elaborate auction items.

and culinary specialties were:
Serving on the Gala Advisory Committee were
Chairperson Tom Collins, Jane Bomberger, Jeff Camp,
Stan Dabrowski, Reggie Dotson, Beth Kaminski,
Laura Kittle, Karren Lee, Joanne Markiewicz, Janice
Moss-Woods, Hilda Pabey, Terry Quinn, Sandy Smith,
Damian Rico and Milt Triana.
Serving on the Gala Planning Committee were Co-
Chairs Peggy Guernsey and Joyce Koch, Gretchen
Bray, Barb Dabrowski, Karen Ditola, Leroy Fassett,
Sue Acala, Eileen McKern, Deb Trelo, Maria Orozco,
and Mary Paquin.
The evening was a beautiful display of a community
united to make a difference in the lives of the
medically compromised children who come to
Nazareth Home.
