With spring just around the corner, the kids are getting ready to bring out their bikes and break free! There is newness with this season. This spring, Kids College offers many successful returning programs as well as some new ones. We are offering the Regents test prep classes again and have a fun, new spin on the Spanish Regents prep! Both SAT and ACT prep classes will also be available. Our enrichment classes continue to be a hit – register your child to learn to play guitar, create minicomics or expand their artistic talents. Most importantly, our academic classes are robust and will prepare your child to fi nish out their school year with impressive grades. Check out the NEW Sunday section! We heard you and have scheduled Sunday classes: Fun with Architecture, Phys. Ed. Fun, Minicomics, and Art 4 Me & Mommy (for toddlers!). 4Early Childhood & Elementary All classes, 9 sessions on Saturdays, March 3-May 12 (skip 4/7, 14) The Arts (Kindergarten-3rd Grade) Young students will enjoy a taste of many art media, including drawing, sketching, and recycling art. Registrants will create their own art project inspired by their favorite art medium, and will enhance their creative and artistic skills. QCC Art Gallery on Campus Field Trip will be announced. CLX-113 SP / 11:05am-12:50pm / $195 Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (Kindergarten-2nd Grade) This fun class is designed for a range of young students to play with each other while learning the basics of math, how to read, and writing. Registrants will be provided curriculum based on their level while learning how to socialize, support and read to each other. Legos, abacus, markers and crayons are the way to go with this group!! This multidisciplinary class gives diverse learners a way to improve while just having fun. CLX-135 SA / 9:30-11am / $195 Classics Combination: Reading, Writing, Math & Art! (Kindergarten-2nd Grade) Young students will engage in a variety of activities designed to develop & enhance their skills in language arts & mathematics. Registrants will also develop artistic skills by working with various tools & learn to use art as a form of self-expression. This class will be organized with Art for 4-weeks and Reading, Writing, Math the next 4-weeks; the final class meeting is a presentation. CLX-136 SA / 10:15-11:30am / $250 SP / 12:40-2pm / $250 Mini-Comics (grades 3-6) Alex Graziano, training from The School of Visual Arts, freelance graphic designer and illustrator. This is a fun & diverse way to get creative writing & drawing skills! Registrants will learn to illustrate a comic on a subject of their choice by studying the creative process, beginning with writing an outline and ending up ultimately with a finished, readable mini-comic. CLX-415 SP / 11:05am-12:50pm / $135 3 TEST PREP Elementary Preparation for NYS Mandated Assessments All classes below: 9 sessions/ $215 March 3-May 12 (skip 4/7, 14) Science Prep (grade 4) Performance Test: May 23–June 1, and Science & Written Section Test: June 4 Focus on math analysis, scientific inquiry, technological design, living environment, and physical setting. CLX-276 SA / Sat, 9:15-11am Science Prep (grade 8) Performance Test: May 23–June 1 and Science & Written Section Test: June 4 Focus on living & physical environment, astronomy, geology, meteorology, chemistry, physics. CLX-277 SP / Sat, 11:05am-12:50pm Preparation for NYS Mandated Assessments in Reading & Mathematics Please indicate grade when registering All classes below: 9 sessions/ $215 January 28-March 31 (skip 2/25) English Language Arts (ELA) Test (grades 3-8) Test: April 17 & 18 The new format includes short answer responses to questions based on reading passages. Focus on test segments, essay responses to oral and written passages dealing with listening comprehension and writing.
