3. Phonology<br />
The phonology of <strong>Pe</strong> is based on rapid observations and should therefore be regarded as tentative at this stage.<br />
3.1 Vowels<br />
<strong>Pe</strong> probably has six phonemic vowels;<br />

<strong>Pe</strong> permits VV sequences, /u/ or /e/ plus /i/, and also /au/ which might be a recent loan phoneme from a Chadic<br />
