We
decided
to
call
residents
in
Indianola,
MS
(Sunflower
County)
since
a
Super
Center
opened
there
as
recently
as
2006.
We
asked
whether
residents
were
aware
of,
and
shopped
at
the
Walmart.
We
also
inquired
as
to
whether
the
residents
thought
Walmart
was
cost
effective
and
whether
they
noticed
any
changes
in
their
community
that
they
thought
correlated
to
the
opening
of
the
Walmart.
While
we
were
only
able
to
reach
a
small
number
of
residents
willing
to
take
our
survey,
the
results
were
unanimously
in
favor
of
Walmart
in
every
sense
of
the
word.
The
only
exception
to
this
was
a
woman
who
wanted
to
be
rehired
after
her
illness,
and
Walmart
would
not
rehire
her
or
give
her
a
reason
as
to
why.
Our
reliance
on
statistical
information
was
well
supplemented
with
real
human
input.
