“As a breast cancer survivor, it was discouraging to develop lymphedema as a result of cancer<br />
treatment. Lymphedema causes swelling and pain in my arm which limited my ability to enjoy life and<br />
to even accomplish simple tasks.<br />
Compression garments and wraps control swelling but the “off the shelf” garments I could afford<br />
were not effective.<br />
Thank goodness for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Jersey Chapter. Their grant to <strong>Saint</strong> <strong>Barnabas</strong><br />
dramatically improved my quality of life. I was given custom compression garments that fit perfectly.<br />
My arm and outlook on life are wonderful.<br />

As the grateful recipient of grant funds to provide free screening<br />
mammography and lymphedema care, <strong>Saint</strong> <strong>Barnabas</strong> provides no-cost<br />
compression garments for patients who have developed lymphedema<br />
after breast cancer treatment. These costly, custom-made garments<br />
reduce the painful swelling that characterizes lymphedema and have the<br />
power to transform despair into hope for the future.<br />
