POLICE OPERATIONS - TRAFFIC 13032322<br />

MISSION/PURPOSE STATEMENT:<br />

The mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Frisco</strong> Police Department Traffic Division is to reduce traffic crashes through<br />

increased awareness, enforcement and use <strong>of</strong> new technologies. By reducing traffic crashes, both lives<br />

and property are better safeguarded.<br />

STRATEGIES:<br />

Provide the highest level <strong>of</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> service, integrity, and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism.<br />

Utilizing a combination <strong>of</strong> motor vehicle accident analysis, community input, and enforcement, to<br />

work proactively to prevent injury or death and to facilitate the mobility <strong>of</strong> citizens in order to<br />

enhance the safety and livability <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Frisco</strong>.<br />

Create a more involved, responsible community by building stronger community partnerships,<br />

providing more open and responsive communications, and delivering programs that promote<br />

involvement in problem solving and crash prevention.<br />

Continue to focus on Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) prosecution through increased enforcement<br />

and participation in TXDOT Grant programs and “No Refusal” programs with the local District<br />

Attorney’s Offices.<br />

OBJECTIVES:<br />

Expand traffic enforcement and education.<br />

Enhanced examination <strong>of</strong> crash data through the use <strong>of</strong> technology and analysis through<br />

Information Technology reports and Geographic Information Systems maps.<br />

Emphasize newly developed Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Enforcement.<br />

Expansion <strong>of</strong> the Red Light Camera Program by 3 approaches.<br />

Seek additional funding sources.<br />

Implement a formal “No Refusal” Blood Warrant, Standard Operating Procedure for Driving While<br />

Intoxicated investigations.<br />
