On Saturday July 11,2009 more than 25 Northwest Neighborhood residents in Tucson, AZ,<br />
participated in the<br />
unity paint day. <strong>The</strong> event was facilitated by muralist<br />
of the<br />
Association and funded by Pro Neighborhoods. _led a number of design workshops with<br />
neighborhood residents to arrive at the final design.<br />

Participants shared food and stories as they painted with premixed paints. rode her (bl (<br />

know what was going on, but when they saw that a group of neighbors were coming together to<br />
beautify the barren arroyo, they were very pleased." A neighbor and self-proclaimed "tagger" gave<br />
the mural a thorough review and after following the outline of the images, said: "I like it. I really like<br />
the message that the mural is giving to the neighborhood"<br />
"I wanted to meet some of my neighbors and find painting generally relaxing" said one participant. It's<br />
the first time I've gotten to know other people in my neighborhood!" said~"who live s a few]<br />

Friday July 17. <strong>The</strong> mural will continue to be worked on for several weeks with a celebration<br />
scheduled for the fall.<br />
