CAREER SERVICES AT SENECA<br />

Career Services provides a full range of job search and employment<br />

services and resources for all <strong>Seneca</strong> students seeking full-time,<br />

part-time and seasonal employment opportunities. Career Services<br />

hosts employment-related events and workshops, including job fairs,<br />

employer information sessions and on-sight visits from employers.<br />

Career co-ordinators offer individual assistance to students in their<br />

graduating semester. As well, drop by the Career Services Centre<br />

at your campus to take advantage of our resume critiquing services<br />

COUNSELLING AND DISABILITY SERVICES<br />

<strong>Seneca</strong>’s qualified, professional counsellors help students deal with<br />

everything from career planning and educational direction to personal<br />

counselling. All students have access to confidential consultation. If<br />

you have a learning disability, visual, hearing, mobility, physical or psychiatric<br />

impairment, Counselling and Disability Services has qualified<br />

counsellors, assistive technologists, learning strategists and psychologists.<br />

DEGREE AND CREDIT TRANSFER OFFICE<br />

The Degree and Credit Transfer Office at <strong>Seneca</strong> will assist you with<br />

your decision to continue your education after <strong>Seneca</strong>. We will help<br />

you research your options, understand the credit transfer agreements<br />

that <strong>Seneca</strong> has with other post-secondary institutions, both in Canada<br />

and abroad, and if you need it, we will help you with your application.<br />

FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE<br />

The first year at college can be quite challenging. At <strong>Seneca</strong> we make<br />

it a priority to ease your transition to college life and make your first<br />

year a success. We strongly recommend that you attend orientation<br />

sessions that are planned for each incoming class. You will have the<br />

opportunity to meet other students, learn some important information<br />

to help you in your first year and interact with staff and faculty. There<br />

are lots of support services and programs for our students that are<br />

available year-round as well.<br />

FITNESS CENTRE<br />

Newnham Campus - Students, staff and community members are<br />

provided with the finest in fitness programming. Members can use the<br />

centre six days per week and take advantage of the strength and circuit<br />

training equipment, treadmills, stairmasters, recumbent and upright<br />

bikes, rowers, elliptical crosstrainers and free weights. Regularly scheduled<br />

fitness classes come with your membership. Fitness evaluations<br />

by our certified staff and individualized fitness programs are offered as<br />

fee for service options. Registrations are taken throughout each semester,<br />

so drop by the centre anytime and begin your semester of fitness<br />

Markham, King and <strong>Seneca</strong>@York - The Fitness Centres at<br />

Markham, King and <strong>Seneca</strong>@York Campuses are student facilities<br />

funded by the Student Athletic Association and run on a cost-recovery/program<br />

fee basis. The centres offer a variety of conditioning<br />

equipment including free weights, circuit training, stairmasters, aerobics,<br />

step aerobics and other classes. Drop by to begin your fitness<br />

training.<br />

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT SENECA<br />

Our International Student Centre provides a wide variety of services<br />

and programs including The Homestay Program; orientations<br />

to <strong>Seneca</strong>, Toronto and Canada; academic counselling; immigration<br />

information; peer tutoring; special activities, trips and social events.<br />

Limited parking is available at all campuses for a daily fee. <strong>Seneca</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> monitors Newnham, Markham and King. The York Parking<br />

Authority monitors <strong>Seneca</strong>@York. For <strong>Seneca</strong>@York parking only,<br />

please direct inquiries to 416-736-5335. Semester Permits are<br />

available at any <strong>Seneca</strong> Bookstore or at the Parking Office at<br />

Newnham. Permits are not transferable and are valid on all <strong>Seneca</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> monitored parking lots. Daily Cash or Credit Card parking is<br />

available on all <strong>Seneca</strong> campuses.<br />

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AT SENECA<br />

Extracurricular activities at <strong>Seneca</strong> complement your classroom<br />

experience. Activities include new student orientations, Frosh Week<br />

activities, International Days, Black History Month activities, trips to<br />

Niagara Falls, the Buzz Newspaper, Student Club activities, and the<br />

radio station at the <strong>Seneca</strong>@York Campus. At <strong>Seneca</strong>, student leaders<br />
