<strong>State</strong> Controller<br />
Donna M. Jones<br />
Donna Jones, <strong>Idaho</strong>’s 20th <strong>State</strong> Controller<br />
and Payette resident rose to political prominence<br />
with her appointment to <strong>Idaho</strong> House District 13<br />
in 1987. Jones served 12 distinguished years in the<br />
House which culminated in her being the first woman<br />
selected to chair the powerful House Revenue and<br />
Taxation Committee. In addition to being a female<br />
trailblazer in legislative politics, Jones is the first<br />
woman elected to serve as <strong>Idaho</strong> <strong>State</strong> Controller.<br />
Donna brings a wealth <strong>of</strong> private and public<br />
sector management and leadership experience to the<br />
job. Before entering politics, Donna was a successful<br />
business person for 30 years, owning and operating<br />
auto parts stores and a real estate brokerage firm.<br />
Immediately prior to her election, she served eight<br />
years as Executive Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Idaho</strong> Real Estate Commission. Jones is an <strong>Idaho</strong> Certified<br />
Public Manager and served on the <strong>Idaho</strong> Hispanic Commission, <strong>Idaho</strong> Housing & Finance<br />
Association Advisory Board, <strong>Idaho</strong> Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council, and Multi-<br />
<strong>State</strong> Tax Commission.<br />
Donna serves on numerous National Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>State</strong> Comptrollers (NASC) and National<br />
Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>State</strong> Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasures (NASACT) committees. She has<br />
previously served on the national Board <strong>of</strong> Directors and as Treasurer for the Association <strong>of</strong><br />
Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), and held <strong>of</strong>fice as the American Legislative<br />
Exchange Council’s (ALEC) <strong>Idaho</strong> Chairman and served on the organization’s national Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Directors, as well as being named an Outstanding ALEC Leader. Donna has also been<br />
recognized by the <strong>Idaho</strong> March <strong>of</strong> Dimes as an Outstanding Woman <strong>of</strong> the Year, and by the<br />
<strong>Idaho</strong> Business Review as one <strong>of</strong> its Women <strong>of</strong> the Year honorees.<br />
Donna was married to her husband Don, who passed away in 2000, for 43 years. They<br />
have two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.<br />

Duties: The <strong>State</strong> Controller is the chief fiscal <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> state <strong>gov</strong>ernment and manages <strong>Idaho</strong>’s<br />
fiscal affairs which include paying all obligations <strong>of</strong> the state, paying all state employees,<br />
publishing <strong>Idaho</strong>’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, as well as maintaining the<br />
centralized financial management reporting and accounting systems. She is the ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio<br />
<strong>Secretary</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Examiners, a member <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Land Commissioners and the Oil<br />
and Gas Conservation Commission, and serves on the Board <strong>of</strong> Canvassers. She also manages<br />
the state’s central Computer Service Center, sits as a member <strong>of</strong> the Information Technology<br />
Resource Management Council (ITRMC), and serves as an advisor to the Commissioners <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Idaho</strong> Housing and Finance Association, as well as advisor to the Commissioners <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Idaho</strong><br />
Food Quality Assurance Institute and serves as <strong>Idaho</strong>’s <strong>State</strong> Social Security Administrator.<br />
