Catherine A. Simmons, PhD, LCSW, is an Associate Professor at the Department<br />

of Social Work, The University of Memphis. Her research interests revolve around<br />

trauma <strong>and</strong> violence with a focus on family violence <strong>and</strong> strengths-based interventions.<br />

Dr. Simmons’ publications include <strong>Strengths</strong>-<strong>Based</strong> Batterer Intervention: A New Paradigm<br />

in Ending Family Violence, coedited with Dr. Peter Lehmann, <strong>and</strong> numerous journal articles<br />

<strong>and</strong> book chapters focusing on social work practice issues. Dr. Simmons has over 20<br />

years of social work experience with family violence, trauma, <strong>and</strong> mental health populations.<br />

Currently, Dr. Simmons teaches clinical practice <strong>and</strong> research courses in the graduate<br />

program.<br />

Peter Lehmann, PhD, LCSW, is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work,<br />

The University of Texas at Arlington. He teaches in the direct practice stream <strong>and</strong> has an<br />

interest in the use of strengths-based approaches with youth <strong>and</strong> adult offender populations<br />

in the criminal justice system. Dr. Lehmann’s publications include <strong>Strengths</strong>-<strong>Based</strong><br />

Batterer Interventions: A New Paradigm in Ending Family Violence, coedited with Catherine<br />

A. Simmons, <strong>and</strong> Theoretical Perspectives <strong>for</strong> Direct Social Work Practice, 2nd edition,<br />

Coedited with Dr. Nick Coady.
