This scientific illustration of Actinoptilum molle — a shallow water
sea pen with both red and yellow color variations — was created
by Stephanie King, who was an intern in the Academy’s Summer
Systematics Institute. The species is commonly seen by divers
in South Africa and southern Mozambique.
