When Hackers Sneak Into
Your Facebook Account

How nice and fulfilling it would be if you have many friends and get lots of
facebook likes in your account. Now you have the prestige of being known and
friendly to others. But have you ever given it a thought that there might come
a time that your account will get hacked by others? Surely you've heard a lot of
complaints with this ongoing crisis among facebook users. And you might be
included in the long list of these victims.
If you don't want your account to get hacked by others, you must follow a
series of precautions which will strengthen the security of your facebook
account.

Safeguard Your Email Address
1. Start off by customizing your account. Head straight to the Edit Profile,
Contact Information and click on the icon beside your email address. Hit
the check on the 'only me' button. This prevents the hacker from
tracking your account, because some only need your email address in
sneaking inside your account. One of those methods done by most
hackers is called 'phishing'; wherein users are often tricked in providing
their confidential account information by logging in to an identical web
page similar to Facebook. It is matched and paired up with a server sided
script to track the usernames and passwords of their victims.
2. When going to account settings, check “secure browsing” and “Send me
an email when a new computer or mobile device logs into this account”
option and have it saved. This gives your hacker a hard time in searching
for your account or email address online.

Hacking Types
1. Phishing - common and easy among hackers. They get passwords and
usernames by luring Facebook users into logging in into identical web
pages of the site. But the difference with this page is that it is paired up
with a server sided script to automatically keep track of your credentials.
To dodge phishing, be wary and doubtful of several apps and widgets
showing from time to time with your account. Check the URL of its
address bar before logging in. And also, avoid logging in to several
Facebook widgets. Always do the Safe Search when searching on
something.
2. Keylogging - type of computer virus that tracks down keystrokes.
Keyloggers can be installed in a computer system. It works even more if
the hacker has personal access on the victim's computer. To avoid this
hacking scheme, avoid downloading free toolbars and software online.
Install a good antivirus and have your PC updated regularly if you have
time.
3. Social Engineering - a hacking scheme which involves sending you an
email in your account to change your password. Usually, these scheme
will pretend to be Facebook which will make you believe and follow its
instructions. This type of hacking will ask you to change your password
to 12345678 or make you do something weird, like sending out your
confidential details only to prove that you are an active user on
Facebook. To avoid this scheme, increase your awareness during chats
and discussions.
