MEN’S GROUP
How frequently do we pray?
Have we had our prayers answered?
What are our traditions when it comes to Catholic prayer?
Does Liturgical prayer help us in the understanding of the
Catholic Church?
At this week‟s Men‟s Group meeting we‟ll reflect on the Gospel
readings for the day as well as use the new Compendium of the
Catechism as we discuss “Christian Prayer”.
Please join us. All men of the parish are welcome. The next
meeting will be held this Saturday, August 21st, in the rectory
basement. Schedule as follows:

The Welcoming Committee would like to announce the “New

DINNERS FOR 8 - FALL 2010
Would you like to get to know other
members of the parish?
"Dinners For 8" is a casual way to get
better acquainted with others in the
parish. The plan is simple: 4 couples
(8 people) have dinner once a month
for 4 months. Each couple/pair takes a
turn hosting and preparing an informal meal for the others in their
group. The couples/individuals are put into groups where
hopefully no one knows each other, but have the chance to build
new community by sharing the 4 meals together. We make every
effort to group people based upon common stages of life.

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers during
my recent illness. I received several visitors, several cards, and a
lot of phone calls of encouragement. Today, August 16th, my
physician just released me for all normal activities at work and at
play. Being able to speak now from first hand experience, the
power of prayer is VERY REAL. There have been several
moments where I felt an upsurge in strength and encouragement
and I am convinced that your prayers and God‟s Blessings have
been the source.
Thanks to all of you once again and I hope to see you in church.

ST. PETER AND PAUL SOUP KITCHEN
The volunteers at St. Peter and Paul soup kitchen in Soulard
served 135 hungry guests on Tuesday, August 3. A special
thanks to our substitute cooks Linda Doyle, Colleen Pence and
Lynn Abeln Meyer who stepped up for 3 vacationing cooks.
Thanks also to Renee Gamble who allowed us to use her
refrigerator to receive and store food this month. A final thanks
to Mary Pat Solari, who co-ordinated the volunteers on August 3.
We were able to distribute about 15 bags of used clothing to the
homeless and hungry this month. We also received 6 bags of new
t-shirts and socks for the homeless men's shelter at St. Peter and
Paul. Thank you for the generosity of St. Peter parishioners who
supplied both.
We will continue to receive and provide new men's t-shirts and
socks as well as gently used men's clothing for the shelter. If you
have a donation please drop it off at Mary Raizman's home at
311 Weston Oaks Ct. in Kirkwood. You may leave it on the front
porch.
