Qualification for the Vivendi Seve Trophy teams began at the Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa in December 2012 and will end after the Italian Open
in September 2013. The top five players on both the Official World Golf Ranking and The Race to Dubai will qualify for the ten-man teams.
Format:
The event will be a match play competition between two teams of ten players representing (a) Continental Europe and (b) Great Britain and Ireland.
On each of the first two days there will be a series of five fourball matches.
On the third day there will be a series of four greensomes and four foursomes matches. On the final day there will be a series of ten singles matches.
Eligibility
Each team will be chosen as follows:
(a) The leading 5 eligible players from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday September 23, 2013
(b) The leading 5 eligible players not otherwise qualified in (a) above from The Race to Dubai at the conclusion of the Italian Open (September 22, 2013).
Competition Condition:
Each match will be worth one point (Total 28), with halved matches earning 1/2 point for each team. If there is an overall points tie at the conclusion of the singles matches,
then both Captains will nominate two players from their respective teams to compete in a greensomes sudden death play off until a result is achieved.
