My First Trip
New Horizon
My Three Jobs
When I was in my country I sit with my
friends in the park and we discussed about
the advantages and disadvantages of
travelling overseas to study. Then we left
the park and when I went my home, I sit by
myself to think about completing my study
and met my father to explain to him what
am thinking. After that, he said to me this is
your life and do what you want if you feel
comfortable. This words was the power to
keep going to complete my study. After two
days I opened the internet and searched
about the university then rang my phone
and talked to my friend he studied at
university of Canberra and gave some
information about everything like the city,
university, living and system. Then he
bought to me offer from UC and I arranged
my flight then I went to the airport to go to
Dubai and the Sydney.
This was the first trip overseas and it was
long trip to reach to Canberra. It takes
around seventeen hours and when I arrived
to Sydney I called my family to tell them
about my situation then I saw my friend in
the airport to pick me up to his home. When
we on the way I am very astonished
because the way was crowded and
different culture. Also my language was
poor. I talked to him many times about that
then he pushed me pushed me up and
encouraged me to do the best. This was
difficult to me but day by day I felt more
comfortable and confident. Now I am very
happy to be here and I learnt many things
are useful in my life.
So I can say I love Australia and I hope to
spend a nice time and I never forget my
teachers because they teach me the
English language and I would say to them
thank you and good luck in the future.
I start my story by my sweet home country,
Vietnam. I was born and grew up in a rural
area along the Mekong Delta. With the
sweet taste of coconut milk, I grow day by
day in the love of my grandmother and
parents. When I graduated high school, I
went to Ho Chi Minh Technology
University. This maybe was the most stupid
decision in my life. After three years and a
half I know that the school was not the rest
of my life. Then I quit and worked for my
friend‟s company. And this year in 2012 I
got advice from a special friend in Sydney.
He suggested to me to move to Sydney to
find a new horizon for my life. It took me a
week to think about the suggestion. At that
time I read a Shakespeare quote All the
world’s a stage and all the men and women
merely actors. I found that I was just a
player in a big theatre. If I didn‟t play well I
could not control myself and could become
a puppet. I wasted my tie in Vietnam on
uninteresting things. So I left my homeland
behind.
TIEC is pretty new for me but I met a lot of
friendly classmates and teachers here. I
love the change of the climate in New
South Wales, the fresh air and busy life of
Sydney. But I have just stayed here for ten
days, therefore I still miss my country, food
and the pollution of Vietnam.

Don’t Forget
My My name is is Thien I I come from Vietnam, so so
learning English iis is a huge challenge for me.
There are are several ways that I I have learnt at at
TIEC.
Bank Officer, Dress coordinator and
Japanese Teacher, I‟ve ever worked the 3
jobs. Those jobs were very different each
other. Bank officer was very responsible
job. I worked as a dealer. I had to use a
great deal with money which I can‟t deal
with by myself. It was stressful. The bank
was Korean but a Japanese branch. So I
worked with Korean, Japanese and
Korean-Japanese. It was a good
opportunity to study Korean.
My next job was dress coordinator at a
hotel. The job was borrowing and selling
costumes for ceremony, mainly weddings.
The job helped happy people and I could
study how to put on Kimono and ceremony
manor.
The third job was a Japanese teacher. I
taught Japanese to various country of
students who wants to study Japanese. I‟m
pure Japanese, but it was hard to teach
Japanese grammar and Japanese culture.
So teaching Japanese was not only for
students, but for me.
At the moment, im back to a student again.
It‟s difficult to study English, but on the
other hand its happy to get knowledge and
making friends who are from various
country over the generations.
The time when I study at TIEC is not
eternal. So in the limited period I want to
absorb a lot of things.

Spend time daily reading and and
listening. This is is the the primary key key to to
succes and and learning English as as
vocabulary is is developed and and writing
skills are are improved also.
Homework should be be done before
class, because there is is no no time to to
look for for new vocabulary from the the
dictionary during class time.
Talk to to friends, not not only to to improve
english speaking but but we we can can realise
that we we are are not not entirely different
from eachother. Despite different
mother languages we we can can share our our
stories and and dreams.
