2005 ACHIEVEMENTS:
• The college’s new, $4 million
teaching and clinical care site on
the St. Petersburg College Seminole
Campus opened to patients in
September of 2005.
• Faculty recruitment efforts in 2005
resulted in 25 new faculty hires—
despite a nationwide shortage of
dental faculty. This is due, in large
part, to the college’s strong, nationwide
reputation for excellence in
dental education and research.
• More than 1,400 applications were
received for the 80 openings in the
college’s entering D.M.D. Class of 2010.
• The college is ranked No. 4 out of
56 dental schools in terms of NIH
funding for research in 2005.
• The Class of 2005 achieved a
100 percent first-time pass rate
of the Florida Licensure exam.
• One hundred percent of the Class
of 2006 passed the NB Part II exam.
• The college’s NIH-funded Florida
Research Infrastructure Enhancement
Plan, spearheaded by the Department
of Oral Biology, has helped make
faculty scholarship and career
development an institutional priority,
