event worth experiencing, as this 

is truly a show where country 

meets town and all have a great 

time. Have your say with the 

cattle judges; eye up the sheep 

and goats; watch the horses from 

the 100yr-old grandstand, or the 

shearing and wood chopping 

from a hay bale seat. Admire the 

cooking, flowers and handicrafts 

from locals and visitors and 

view the stunning photography 

display. Stroll around the many 

varied trade stands or sit back and 

listen to the entertainment. There 

is a great variety of food stalls and 

plenty to do for young and old.

Boat Race. 


Race starts at 10am, BUT be there 

at 9.00 am please. Tata Beach (or 

the “lagoon” if windy). 

This will be the 15th annual 

Cardboard Boat race. This 

event made the Golden Bay 

ICON status. Cardboard crafts 

resembling wedding cakes, BMWs 

and even Fire Engines brave the 

waves for a fun time. Category 

and spot prizes donated by local 

businesses. Entry forms available 

early December.

theme of the annual Tapawera 

Show. Come out for a day in 

the country and experience 

the atmosphere of a traditional 

country show. There will be 

horses, dogs, chooks, pets, 

exhibits of handcrafts, all sorts 

of machinery and traditional 

entertainment. Enjoy a picnic 

lunch or sample the wares of our 

various food stalls while watching 

the horses and listening to the 

music. The Tapawera Show is a 

great day out in the country for
