Free education teaching resources from Battersea Dogs &Cats Home. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has recently updated its schools ‘3R’s for 4R’s’ education teaching resources for KS1/2 and Foundation Stages to include some whole school activities and interactive whiteboard exercises. The pack is available on CD ROM with lots of extra activities, including downloadable posters, safety advice, films and a photo resource library. Join the growing learning rep network Since 2002, nearly 170 teachers have become accredited NUT learning reps. They are working in authorities across England and Wales, at both authority and school levels, helping their colleagues gain access to a wide range of learning opportunities for personal and professional development. With support from the Union Learning Fund, the NUT continues to develop its network of school-based learning representatives. Division learning representatives co-ordinate activity across their local authority while school-based learning representatives are the principal local contact for teachers. The NUT’s accredited learning representatives’ courses take place at the union’s national training centre, Stoke Rochford Hall in Lincolnshire. The course is for all learning reps, both division and school-based. If you are interested, sign up for one of the courses in 2007/08: Autumn 2007: Monday 3 – Friday 7 December Spring 2008: Monday 4 – Friday 8 February The courses are free and travel expenses are covered by the union. The NUT will be hosting a one-day consultative conference on faith schools on 23 November at Hamilton House in London. The conference will provide members with an opportunity to voice their views on faith schools and hear about the work of the NUT’s faith schools task group. Speakers from the National Secular Society, Church of England, British Humanist Association, Catholic Education Service and more have been confirmed. Internationalising learning (T2T40) 26-27 November (follow-up 11-12 March), Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire. For pairs of secondary teachers (supply cover can be claimed by school). Tutors: Cathryn Gathercole and Delphine Ruston. Supporting young EAL learners (ONP15) 30 November (not 16 November as previously advertised), NUT HQ, London. Seminar (and a new resource pack) for staff teaching primary/early years pupils for whom English is an additional language. Tutor: Tony Eaude (see feature on page 26).
