8th grade letter - San Pasqual High School

Please note that there is no advantage to attending the first night over the other two nights since
students are only making course requests! Classes will NOT “fill up”! The alpha order is an
attempt to ensure that the number of students is evenly distributed each evening so that
everyone is served in a timely fashion. We would truly appreciate your cooperation in following
this schedule.
Counselors will be available to answer any questions or to provide additional registration
assistance. If the student’s/parent’s choices are inconsistent with achievement data and teacher
recommendations, the counselor will recommend changes. Parents will receive a revised copy of
the requested classes. San Pasqual High School will also review 8 th grade CST scores as well as
third trimester grades, so it is important that your child continue to work hard throughout the entire
school year.
4. Students and parents will also need to complete a packet of information and attend a final
registration at SPHS in the summer. More information about this will follow from SPHS.
What if I’d like to request that my student attend a different high school?
The process is known as an “Intra-District Transfer Request”. The school your student would like to
attend instead of the School of Residence is referred to as the “School of Choice”. In January, you will
receive a separate letter from our district that will explain the application process and policies for the
2011-12 school year. Intra-District Transfer forms are posted on the district’s website
(www.euhsd.k12.ca.us) or are available at any high school counseling office or at the front desk of the
District Service Center (DSC) at 302 N. Midway Drive. DSC hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and
their telephone is (760) 291-3200.
If I have applied for an Intra-district Transfer for my student and am still waiting to hear if it is
approved, what should I do?
It is important that you continue to attend scheduled registration events for your school of residence
until you receive notification that your transfer request is approved. If you have questions or need
further information regarding Intra-District Transfers or your application status, please refer to the
separate letter about transfers for more details and contact information.
What about summer school?
Because the school year for EUSD ends later than that of the high school, incoming 9 th graders may
only attend Session II of summer school. Course offerings are very limited for incoming 9 th graders –
there is no guarantee of space availability.
Session II: June 23rd through July 15th, 2011
(July 4th is a holiday and there is no school on 6/24, 7/1, 7/8)
Summer School registration information will be provided when counselors visit students in March.
