GEOS5053 Quaternary Environments (Fa) An interdisciplinary study <strong>of</strong> the Quaternary<br />

Period, including dating methods, deposits, soils, climates, tectonics, and human<br />

adaptation. Lecture 2 hours, laboratory 2 hours per week. Prerequisite: Graduate<br />

standing. (Same as ANTH 5053,ENDY 5053)<br />

GEOS5063 Climate Through Time (Sp) The earth’s climate history over the last 2 million<br />

years and the influence various factors have had on it; compilation and paleoclimatic<br />

histories and methods <strong>of</strong> dating climatic effects. Prerequisite: GEOG 4363 or equivalent.<br />

(Same as BIOL 5063,ENDY 5063)<br />

GEOS5423 Remote Sensing <strong>of</strong> Natural Resources (Even years, Sp) Introductory digital<br />

image processing <strong>of</strong> remotely sensed data. Topics include data collection, laboratory<br />

design, scientific visualization, radiometric and geometric correction, enhancement,<br />

pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and accuracy assessment in natural resource<br />

remote sensing. Advanced geomatics s<strong>of</strong>tware exercises and a final project are<br />

included. Prerequisite: GEOS 4413 and pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in a programming language.<br />

GEOS5853 Environmental Isotope Geochemistry (Sp) Introduction to principles <strong>of</strong> isotope<br />

fractionation and distribution in geologic environments, isotopic analytical methods,<br />

and extraction <strong>of</strong> isotope samples; application <strong>of</strong> isotopes in characterization <strong>of</strong> geologic<br />

processes and interaction with hydrologic, surficial, and biologic attenuation, paleothermometry<br />

soil, and biogeochemical processes. Prerequisite: GEOL 5063 or GEOL 5263.<br />

(Same as ENDY 5853) May be repeated for up to 3 hours <strong>of</strong> degree credit.<br />

activities. Some attention to housing and care needs <strong>of</strong> persons in advanced<br />

years. Lecture 3 hours per week. Seminar. Prerequisite: instructor consent.<br />

GERO5013 Field Experience in Gerontology (Irregular) Supervised research/practical<br />

experience in field setting. Prerequisite: Graduate standing. May be repeated for up<br />

to 6 hours <strong>of</strong> degree credit.<br />

GERO5023 Critical Issues in Aging (Irregular) Consideration <strong>of</strong> current issues <strong>of</strong> aging<br />
