THE ARAB
SPRING
ONE YEAR ON
A year ago the tyrants
of the Middle East seemed
untouchable. Today, Yemen’s
President Ali Abdullah Saleh has
been ousted, Muammar al-Qaddafi
is dead, ex-president Zine al-Abidine
Ben Ali of Tunisia has been sentenced to
35 years in absentia, and Hosni Mubarak is
on trial. The revolutions shook the foundations
of these regimes, but the bigger tests are still to come.
The question is will the Arab Spring flourish or will
it die a bloody death? OLGA YOLDI writes.
