Student Highlights<br />
Education Students Teach in France<br />
STUDENT<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Akron</strong> and seven other<br />
universities arrived in France the first week<br />
<strong>of</strong> September to participate in the Franco-<br />
American Teachers-in-Training Institute<br />
(FATITI). Education students attended a<br />
language and culture seminar at the Center<br />
for Applied Linguistics in Besançon for three<br />
weeks. Afterward, they taught science, math,<br />
music and English in schools in Reims, Rouen,<br />
Amiens, Orléans, Tours and Blois.<br />
<strong>The</strong> teacher-exchange program, funded by<br />
a grant from the U.S. Department <strong>of</strong> State,<br />
is coordinated by UA in conjunction with<br />
the Franco-American Commission and<br />
French Ministry <strong>of</strong> Education. <strong>The</strong> current<br />
group is the fourth sent by UA. As part <strong>of</strong><br />
this intensive cultural experience, the<br />
students will live with host families. <strong>The</strong>y will<br />
return from France Dec. 15. For more<br />
