Artist’s Statement: This is not simply another Photoessay, but rather a visually ordained utensil trying to eradicate the exigency of whether or not every autonomous being on the planet that delves into recording imagery via digital point-andshoot cameras, phones or other devices with photographic-capturing abilities are truly tainting and bringing forth the degradation of the quality and essence of photography. By creating a visual that will compare and contrast the artistic and photographic eye to the utilizing of digital devices to capture morning breakfasts and mealtime images will hopefully aid in objectifying the quintessence of photography, and whether-ornot everyone having the capability of taking a photo is doing exactly what Sontag hinted at: Allowing for the degradation of the purity of photography. Likening it to the enlisting of bloodshed and countless calamities of terribly composed and violent symphonies. Or is it allowing a more modern and artistic sense of photography to emerge from the damnation of poor quality composition and lack of content due to untrained eyes, therefore allowing photographers to rise and combat this conflict through even more stunning photography produced by professional equipment and a keen insight that truly understands the tools of the trade. It is commonly said that the best piece of photographic equipment hovering just 12 inches behind the flickering LCD screen. Just behind the viewfinder lies the most important tool, the imagination and the yearning for aspiration! The question then is whether or not we should just leave it up to the professionals, AND MY PROCLOMATION IS NAY! It is through sifting through the mindless crap, and terribly composed imagery that the true beauty of photography begins to emerge and immerse itself in the soul. It is seeing what you hate, and finding what you love that gives you an eye for what is true and pure, gutting the rest of the tyranny that is mindless, motionless and breathless photography.
