The NIH recently announced its plans for the next phase <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Protein Structure Initi<strong>at</strong>ive (PSI). Beginning in 2005, this production<br />

phase will comprise an interacting network with three<br />

components: large-scale research centers, specialized research<br />

centers focused on methods development and challenging proteins,<br />

and disease-targeted research centers (pending). At the<br />

ACA workshop, John Norvell, director <strong>of</strong> the PSI, will describe<br />

the project and will summarize the two recent Requests for Applic<strong>at</strong>ions<br />

(RFAs) th<strong>at</strong> will support the first two components <strong>of</strong><br />

the PSI.<br />
