Samuel B. Buchalter, Esq.
Entering his first season at Kentucky, Samuel Buchalter brings
tremendous experience and ability to the Wildcat coaching staff.
Not just a 20-year veteran of coaching, Buchalter has been around the
sport since the young age of three. His mother, Alice, a Michigan High
School Hall of Fame gymnastics coach, used to bring Sam to the gym at
Freeland High School, where she coached.
His long and winding coaching career has brought him to Kentucky,
where he brings credentials that include coaching numerous
Junior Olympic National champions.
For the past three years, Buchalter has been a member of the
Michigan State program, where he helped lead the Spartans to a
berth in the NCAA Central Regional a year ago.
Prior to joining the college coaching ranks, Buchalter served as
an instructer of the prestigious club Twistars from 1997-2003. He
was also a team coach for Freeland Gymnastics for 11 years from
1984-94.
Between the two stints, Buchalter spent three years overseas as a
member of the Finnish Gymnastics Federation staff, working with
the Junior National Team.
A Michigan native, Buchalter graduated from Saginaw Valley
State University in 1994 with a degree in history before pursuing a
law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. A member of
the State Bar of Michigan, Buchalter worked as a corporate attorney
in the Lansing area while coaching at Twistars.
Buchalter is single and lives in Lexington.
