MANAGEMENT HISTORY
• The need for management immediately
realised following the efforts of gazettement.
• Gazettement of the Island reserves began in
1902.
• First ‘management plan’ was introduced in
1904 to regulate and control the felling of
island reserves.
• First comprehensive plan in 1950 (1950-1959)
for the whole of Matang Mangroves and
revised once every 10 years.
