Quilter Basics
• Please read all instructions before beginning.
• Label your cut pieces
• All instructions use ¼" seam allowance.
Trace the leaf design on the dull side of plastic coated freezer paper.
Trace and cut 232 leaf templates.
If necessary, cut your fabric into approximately 6" wide strips.
Place a 6"wide strip wrong side up on your ironing board. Position
freezer paper templates on the rectangle, shiny side up, on the bias,
leaving room for a ⅜" seam around the template. Press the templates
onto the fabric. Trim the excess fabric, leaving ⅜" around the pattern.
You can get about 5 leaves per 22" strip.
Using a hot iron with no steam, move the tip of the iron around the
edge of the leaf bonding the fabric to the shiny side of the freezer paper
template.
In the remaining steps , you be adding the leaves to the quilt top. Since
the freezer paper is shiny side up, the area that is not covered by the
fabric edge is still sticky and exposed. Lay petals on the fabric and iron
in them place to hold them while sewing. Cut out the back and remove
the paper.
