THE NATIONAL FILM PRESERVATION FOUNDATION<br />
The Community of Support<br />
The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Preservation</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong><br />
depends entirely on private contributions to<br />
sustain operations. We salute the growing<br />
community that makes our work possible.<br />
Fisherman of Terminal Island (ca. 1942), documented<br />
in the Fukuzaki family home movies that were preserved<br />
by the Japanese American <strong>National</strong> Museum.<br />
At the heart are our founding contributors.<br />
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and<br />
Sciences and The <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> provide<br />
steadfast support and assist year after year in<br />
more ways than can be counted. Founding<br />
NFPF Board member Celeste Bartos helped<br />
launch our programs through grants contributed<br />
by the Pinewood <strong>Foundation</strong><br />
and continues her vital role through the<br />
Philanthropic Collaborative.<br />
Many have made multiyear gifts that have<br />
created a solid base for our work. We single<br />
out the generous contributions of the<br />
Wasserman <strong>Foundation</strong>, Twentieth Century<br />
Fox, Technicolor Worldwide <strong>Film</strong> Group, the<br />
Cecil B. De Mille <strong>Foundation</strong>, the Creative<br />
Artists Agency, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the<br />
Directors Guild of America, the Fran & Ray<br />
Stark <strong>Foundation</strong>, Ted and Lea Pedas, the<br />
Buuck Family <strong>Foundation</strong>, the Wilding<br />
Family <strong>Foundation</strong>, Underground Vaults and<br />
Storage, and Bonded Services. Commercial<br />
laboratories play a special part. Before federal<br />
matching funding became available, the NFPF<br />
distributed grants in the form of preservation<br />
services donated by public-spirited laboratories<br />
and postproduction houses. Their ongoing<br />
gifts continue to expand the resources for the<br />
field and enable laboratories to support film<br />
preservation by doing what they do best. For<br />
a list of major supporters see appendix 3.<br />
Government employees lend a hand by<br />
donating through the payroll contribution<br />
programs of the Combined Federal Campaign<br />
(CFC number 1169) and the California State<br />
Employees’ Charitable Campaign. The gifts<br />
received through workplace giving increase<br />
every year.<br />
Our cooperative projects are made possible<br />
through grants to the NFPF. We salute The<br />
Andrew W. Mellon <strong>Foundation</strong> for funding<br />
The <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Preservation</strong> Guide, the <strong>National</strong><br />
Endowment for the Humanities for production<br />
support for the More Treasures silent-era<br />
DVD, and The <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> for initiating<br />
the Avant-Garde Masters Grants.<br />
We extend a special thank-you to our new<br />
