1. Introduction
1.1 How To Use This Document
This section of the report on the Zeekoevlei / Rondevlei Rehabilitation Study summarizes the
identified core ecological problems prevailing in Zeekoevlei and Rondevlei, the associated
key issues, and those options and actions deemed most likely to succeed in rehabilitating the
vlei ecosystems.
1.2 Contents of the Action Plan
The Zeekoevlei / Rondevlei Rehabilitation Study Report is comprised of four sections and
supportive appendices, namely:
• The Action Plan – this section should be read together with Section C;
• Section A: Background to the study and details of the stakeholder involvement
process;
• Section B: Reports of the Specialist Studies;
• Section C: Synthesis of rehabilitation options and monitoring requirements (for
an initial period of five years following completion of this
assessment).
The Action Plan integrates the key findings of the study, and suggests actions recommended
for the rehabilitation of the two vleis. The basis for the recommendations is provided in
Sections B and C.
