Join Us At . . . The 30th Edition of the Annual Dental Review will be held at the beautiful Embassy Suites Resort at Kingston Plantation, and should prove to be a great update for the general dentist. This year’s program will feature a broad potpourri of practical topics, highlighted by an excellent line-up of speakers including Dr. Glenn Maron, a noted oral surgeon who is our featured speaker, as well as guest speaker, Mr. David Avery, along with outstanding faculty from UNC. Day 1 will feature a new format including our featured speaker followed by a series of short "clinical snippets" on salient topics in general dentistry from Ms. Rebecca Wilder and Drs. Ralph Leonard, Sam Nesbit and Terry Donovan. Dr. Maron will begin the day with an "update in oral surgery for the general dentist." Dr. Maron is the team doctor for the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons and was the designated oral surgeon for the Summer Olympic Games in 1996. Dr. Maron is widely known for his "common sense" presentations on clinically relevant topics in oral surgery and related topics. A board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Maron currently maintains a private practice in Atlanta, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine. Day 2 will be start with an insightful presentation addressing dentistry in the digital age presented by Mr. David Avery. Thereafter, various UNC faculty will address an array of clinically relevant hot topics including clinical pearls in treatment planning by Dr. Sam Nesbit, current issues in office safety by Dr. Ralph Leonard, and hot topics in periodontology from Ms. Rebecca Wilder. Day 3 will kick off with an insightful lecture by our resident sage in prosthodontics, Dr. Terry Donovan, who will review the most current information and research on all-ceramic systems, followed by a new comprehensive "Ask the Experts" panel discussion. This forum will serve as a great opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with virtually all of our program speakers. Day 3 will conclude with another excellent presentation from our featured speaker, Dr. Glenn Maron, on the topic of "complications of implant dentistry." Meet the Speakers Dr. Glenn Maron received both his DDS degree in 1986 as well as his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Emory University. A board-certified oral surgeon, Dr. Maron currently maintains a private practice in Atlanta, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Maron is highly regarded for his skills in reconstructive surgery as well as managing complex maxillofacial trauma cases. Dr. Maron has lectured extensively on a wide variety of oral surgery-related topics, including management of the medically compromised patient, case selection and risk assessment, trauma management, managing surgical complications, simple biopsy techniques, sedation and pain management, and medicolegal issues. Dr. Maron is known for his pragmatic “common sense” approach to oral surgery issues, yet is very evidence-based with regards to what he teaches. Mr. David Avery, Director of Professional Services at Drake Precision Dental Laboratory in Charlotte, N.C. received his AAS degree in dental laboratory technology from Durham Technical College in Durham, North Carolina in 1976. He achieved his Certified Dental Technician status in 1980. During his career, he has served as a private technician, full service laboratory owner and since 1984, a member of the Drake executive management team.
