BULLS BRING THE RAIN AND DOLLARS
Reardo’s Rebels were (l-r) Mark Brawne, Justin Sternes, Delissa
Kimmince, Ian Beil, Nathan Reardon, Joe Dawes, Alice Smith,
Matthew Prain, Clayton Arnell, Brent Arnold and Paul Kruger.
When you play a game
of cricket for drought relief,
the last thing you
would think would happen
is that it would be
affected by rain.
But as luck would have
it, rain did decide to fall
for the first time in three
months out at Tara,
300km west of Brisbane,
causing a bit of grief for
the XXXX GOLD Queensland
Bulls in their
Twenty20 match with local
players.
Being a resourceful
bunch however,
drizabones were donned
and the game went
ahead and a great time
was had by all.
The crowd were treated
to some excellent batting
from the Bulls stars
including Nathan
Reardon, Nick Kruger
and Ben Cutting as well
as Konica Minolta
Queensland Fire and
Australian representative
Delissa Kimmince, and
QAS squad member Fran
Whittaker.
Former Queensland
quick Joe Dawes showed
that he still has a few
tricks up his sleeve with
the ball and recently appointed
QAS coach
Justin Sternes turned
back the clock, gracing
"Phil Bougoure" Oval for
the first time in 10
years, lacking none of
the skills he showed as a
Tara premiership player.
For the record, Reardo's
Rebels got across the
line, just pipping a fast
finishing Kruger's Crusaders.
However, the
real winners on the day
were the landholders of
the Tara District for
whom $2500 was raised,
not to mention the beautiful
rain.
It was due reward for local
cricket administrator
Matthew Prain, who does
a power of work for
cricket and other sports
in the region.
Dalby Mayor Ray Brown and drought worker Graham Muller accept
the $2500 cheque from Nathan Reardon and the QC crew,
while (above) Ben Cutting lets one fly at Alice Smith.
