The NEW CFM Scholarship Fund<br />
You will see some changes this month in<br />
the Intermezzo. Thanks to the family <strong>of</strong> Leland<br />
Baska, the <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>Federation</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Musicians</strong> has<br />
set up a scholarship fund in his memory. For the<br />
past seven years, we have awarded scholarships<br />
to children and students <strong>of</strong> CFM members that<br />
are pursuing degrees in Music. Originally funded<br />
by the Music Performance Fund, the CFM Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Directors has chosen to continue to fund the<br />
scholarships through our local. With the generous<br />
contributions in memory <strong>of</strong> our member Leland<br />
Baska, we can continue to <strong>of</strong>fer aspiring musicians<br />
help in their educational pursuits. If you would like<br />
to contribute to this worthy cause, checks should<br />
be made payable to the “CFM Scholarship Fund”<br />
and sent to the local. Your name will be added to<br />
the list <strong>of</strong> contributors on our website.<br />
Who’s Playin’ Where<br />
Look on pages 15 and 16 for the new column,<br />
“Who’s Playin’ Where”. This is the NEW “Come<br />
Here Us Play.” For many years, we have listed<br />
the musicians that have steady gigs throughout<br />
our jurisdiction. We have now expanded this<br />
to include concert presentations <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> our<br />
orchestras. This will give you, our members,<br />
a chance to find out where our musicians are<br />
playing so you can attend their performances and<br />
support our Union musicians. If you have future<br />
engagements that you would like to have listed in<br />
this column, please send them along to me. I will<br />
include those that have a Union contract on file<br />
with my <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

2nd HALF DUES REMINDER<br />
If your membership card indicates DUES PAID<br />
THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011, second half 2011<br />
Membership Dues are payable by July 31, 2011.<br />
Those members who paid only first half dues should<br />
have already received a statement for the amount<br />
they owe at this time. The amount due is $106.00<br />
for regular members and $56.00 for life members.<br />
Your prompt payment is appreciated and will prevent<br />
the added expense <strong>of</strong> suspensions, reinstatements,<br />
reminder bills, etc.<br />
