OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO OFFER REGISTERED TRAVELER LANES IN 2008
Passengers Bump to Front of Security Screening Line for a Small Annual Fee
Oakland International Airport (OAK) will become one of very few airports in
the U.S. to offer special security lanes to speed registered travelers through
Terminals 1 and 2 by spring 2008. The Port of Oakland, owner and operator
of OAK, will select a vendor to provide this service through a competitive
selection process.
Under the program, passengers are pre-registered allowing them to go
through special security lines at the passenger checkpoints. Passengers and
their carry-on bags still have to undergo screening and they may be required
to remove shoes and jackets.
OAK passengers can become pre-registered by enrolling with the vendor
chosen by the Port. Enrollment stations will be available at OAK and customers
should anticipate the following:
• Verification of two pieces of approved government-issued identification
such as a driver license and passport;
• Capture images of irises and fingerprints;
• Photograph; and
• Annual fee of approximately $100.
Upon approval, registered travelers will receive an enrollment card allowing
them to speed through special security lanes at OAK and other
participating airports nationwide. Benefits include more predictability and
less hassle.
