The main theme -
"Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and His ldea of Social Justice in the
lndian Constitution,"
According to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar "Social Justice meant
maximum happiness to the maximum number of people". lt means
each and every section of the society enjoy "Freedom, Equality,
Fraternity and Justice" in his life. ln other words the democratic
setup of the country determines the economic justice and
competitiveness in the global community.
Today, after almost sixty years after the adoption of our
constitution, it is imperative thatwe try to revisit his notions of social
justice and evaluate the institutions developed for realizing a just
lndia. These sixtyyears alsowitnessed tremendous changes in the
lndian polity with respect to caste mobilizations, changes in the
nature of lndian state, advent of neoliberal capitalism etc. A
number of institutions expected to be the torchbearers of social
justice such as Judiciary, Police, various constitutional bodies etc
have a mixed story of success and failure.
The lndia's epoch thinker Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is great
campaigner of 'social justice'. ln this context it is important to
critically examine the transformation of the ideas and practices of
. social justice in the contemporary lndia. Hence we are going to
seekourways and means underthe light of his thinking. Therefore,
authors of research papers may submit their papers on the subthemes
as given below, underthe main theme of the seminar.
1) Judiciary and SocialJustice.
2) Rule of Law and Social Justice.
3) Fundamental Rights & Directive Principles ofthe
Constitution and Social justice.
The authors may form their own sub-theme of their choice
