The main theme -<br />

"Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and His ldea <strong>of</strong> Social Justice in the<br />

lndian Constitution,"<br />

According to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar "Social Justice meant<br />

maximum happiness to the maximum number <strong>of</strong> people". lt means<br />

each and every section <strong>of</strong> the society enjoy "Freedom, Equality,<br />

Fraternity and Justice" in his life. ln other words the democratic<br />

setup <strong>of</strong> the country determines the economic justice and<br />

competitiveness in the global community.<br />

Today, after almost sixty years after the adoption <strong>of</strong> our<br />

constitution, it is imperative thatwe try to revisit his notions <strong>of</strong> social<br />

justice and evaluate the institutions developed for realizing a just<br />

lndia. These sixtyyears alsowitnessed tremendous changes in the<br />

lndian polity with respect to caste mobilizations, changes in the<br />

nature <strong>of</strong> lndian state, advent <strong>of</strong> neoliberal capitalism etc. A<br />

number <strong>of</strong> institutions expected to be the torchbearers <strong>of</strong> social<br />

justice such as Judiciary, Police, various constitutional bodies etc<br />

have a mixed story <strong>of</strong> success and failure.<br />

The lndia's epoch thinker Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is great<br />

campaigner <strong>of</strong> 'social justice'. ln this context it is important to<br />

critically examine the transformation <strong>of</strong> the ideas and practices <strong>of</strong><br />

. social justice in the contemporary lndia. Hence we are going to<br />

seekourways and means underthe light <strong>of</strong> his thinking. Therefore,<br />

authors <strong>of</strong> research papers may submit their papers on the subthemes<br />

as given below, underthe main theme <strong>of</strong> the seminar.<br />

1) Judiciary and SocialJustice.<br />

2) Rule <strong>of</strong> Law and Social Justice.<br />

3) Fundamental Rights & Directive Principles <strong>of</strong>the<br />

Constitution and Social justice.<br />

The authors may form their own sub-theme <strong>of</strong> their choice<br />

under the main theme-
