PAGE 8 TWENTY FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 16, 2012 HELP THE HANDICAPPED St. Fabian SPRED Program is looking for volunteers who are 18 years or older to give a few hours of their time to help with the Knights of Columbus Intellectual Disabilities Tootsie Roll Drive to be held on Friday, September 21st and Saturday, September 22nd Before and after all the Masses the weekend of September 22nd/23rd The money earned from this drive will support our SPRED Program for the upcoming year. SPRED (Special Religious Education Division) is a ministry that serves the needs of our special friends by helping them grow in their awareness of God. We currently service 22 handicapped adults and meet with them bi-weekly for catechesis. This drive is SPRED’S only means of support, unless someone gives us a direct donation. There is no age limitations for collecting in businesses, banks, stores and at our Masses, but on the street corners you must be 18 years old. Funds are donated by the amount of hours worked. Harlem Avenue, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on September 21st or 22nd or talk to one of the K.C’s before the Mass you are attending. Be sure to mention “St. Fabian SPRED” for us to get the credit. Complimentary Coffee, Rolls, Pop, Bottled Water will be available all day and hot dogs after 11 a.m. If everyone gives just a little time, our “special friends” will gain so much! Want to help those less fortunate in the South Suburban area? Consider volunteering your time to serve at a PADS Homeless Shelter! South Suburban PADS is gearing up for its 23nd Emergency Shelter Season which operates between October 1, 2012 and April 30, 2013. S O U T H SUBURBAN P A D S PADS is in urgent need of volunteers to staff the shelters and volunteer cook teams to provide meals for the guests. Four hours, once each month, is all it takes to help keep these shelters open. Please consider helping PADS serve homeless persons in our area. It could be the best four hours you spend each month!
