saved big in 2012
Last year was another record breaking
year of savings for OEC members using
their Co-op Connections Card. Members
saved just under $140,000 on prescription
costs topping the previous record from
2010 by $13,375.
Out of nearly 8,500 claims presented,
66 percent received a discount saving over
40 percent off the original cost. Were
you one of these smart shoppers? It never
hurts to use the card. Just present it to the
pharmacist. They will be able to tell you if
using the card will save you money or not.
In some cases, the Co-op Connections
Card price may be less than the price you
pay with insurance. You will always receive
the lowest price no matter what.
With the advent of the Healthy
Savings Program in the fall of 2012,
carrying the card can now save you even
more. Use the card for discounts on dental
care, labs, chiropractic visits, vision and
hearing aid services. Savings examples
include:
• 10% to 85% discounts on most
prescriptions at over 60,000
participating pharmacies.
• 10% to 60% discounts on
eyeglasses, contact lenses, eye
exams and LASIK.
• 20% to 40% discounts on dental
care like cleanings, x-rays, root
canals, crowns and orthodontics.
• PLUS, additional savings on chiropractic
visits, lab tests, imaging scans and hearing
aids.
According to an April 2012 CBS News report titled "America's Dental Insurance
Crisis," over 30% of the American population do not have dental insurance. That
means over 100 million people will have to pay full price out of pocket for their
dental expenses, or worse, go without needed dental care.
Co-op members can save between 20-40% on all dental services, including
orthodontics, periodontics and endodontics with the Co-op Connections Card.
