The law allows unions to dem<strong>and</strong> negotiation rights (recognition)<br />
wherever 50% + 1 of employees are union members.<br />
Even where we already have recognition – experience tells us that<br />
the more people there are in the union the stronger <strong>and</strong> more<br />
effective the union becomes:<br />
• You can help build the union in your <strong>work</strong>place<br />
• Talk to your colleagues about the issues that you see as important<br />
in your <strong>work</strong>place – the areas where improvement could <strong>and</strong> should<br />
be made<br />
• Talk to your colleagues about union membership<br />
• Encourage your colleagues to join the <strong>GMB</strong> – direct debit means we<br />
can demonstrate<br />
membership levels to an<br />
employer without<br />
disclosing the names of<br />
individual members as we<br />
build the union<br />
