The Computer Properties dialog, accessed by simply right-clicking on Computer, and
selecting Properties, reveals the Windows Version and Edition, the type and number of
physical processors, the amount of installed memory, and whether the operating system
is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Different versions and editions of Windows have different limits for the amount of RAM
and number of processors (both physical and logical) that they support, so it is very
important to know the exact version and edition of Windows that you have installed,
along with whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit. For example, the x86 version of Windows Server
2003 R2 Standard Edition has a limit of 4 GB for physical memory, so even if you install
