could raise average household income by $15,000.
This area encompasses 4 counties and 1 area development district with
a population of 809,143. Twenty-four percent of the population has a
bachelor’s degree or above, and 18 percent has less than a high
school diploma.
This region is the University of Louisville’s area of geographic
responsibility, but as the state’s premier metropolitan research
university, UofL serves the entire state. This region also includes 4
other postsecondary institutions, 5 K-12 public school districts, and 4
county adult education programs. All of these providers play a vital role
in this plan.
