Jr Jam 2012 by Beth Ash Three students attended Junior Jam at Cedarville University on Saturday, October 13, 2012. It was a fantastic experience for everyone as it is each year. Some from the group wrote brief reports about their day, and we thought the church family would enjoy hearing about this special activity planned just for third through sixth graders each year. The best part of Junior Jam was G.A.T.S. We were in a gym. You were in teams. You could not let go of group members’ hands. You run in your group and try to find a piece of paper with a part of a memory verse on it. Then you put your part of the memory verse in the correct location. When all of the teams had gotten to take two turns each, they would take all of the groups and sit down with the groups to say the memory verse. Caley Evans The best part of Junior Jam was the Moses Mission. Our leaders were trapped like the Israelites. We saved Caley, Sam & Mary Grace them by putting together a puzzle. We went through a tunnel. We shot at the target, then we threw a ball at a plant poster. Our leaders came down. It was so much fun. Mary Grace Young Caley and Mary Grace, along with Sam Scott, joined about 2,000 students in singing, listening and participating in telling stories of Bible heroes, playing games, enjoying a Subway lunch, and making a craft during the day. One highlight of Junior Jam is being able to spend the day with two college students as guides. All of this involves much hilarity, laughter, fun and friendship. Those who chaperone receive a blessing by being part of the program, but they also have workshops available for their own growth as teachers and parents. We invite students and parents of third through sixth grade students to make Junior Jam 2013 a goal for next year. You will be sure to enjoy a day to remember. A Brief and Effective Opportunity to Learn How to Share the Good News Father/Son Campout by Jeff Lashley The saying goes “April showers bring May flowers,” we know that scheduling the fall father/son campout is sure to bring rain. After two consecutive weekends of rain cancelled the event in 2011, over 50 men and boys, from two churches, persevered September 21 & 22, 2012 at Fetters Family Campground near Marengo, Ohio. Though Friday evening brought rain and shortened the campfire time, we were still able to catch plenty of fish, roast hot dogs and marshmallows before retiring to our tents. Light rain became heavy at times sending many to dry ground and warm cars. All but a few stayed through the night! Though damp and cool, the event continued as planned Saturday morning. We enjoyed Chef Brian’s (Arnold) French toast and sausage along with hot chocolate that hit the spot. We then split the boys into 4 groups and they rotated through fishing, blowguns, archery, and Alka Seltzer rockets. A good time was had by all. The tents, boys and dads were dry and warm by Saturday afternoon. Bible Study Fellowship, the wonderful ministry that uses our facility on Thursday mornings, is offering a one hour seminar on how to share effectively the good news about who Jesus is and what He has done. This opportunity is open to anyone. You don’t have to be enrolled in Bible Study Fellowship to participate. It is also available to both men and women. Holiday Extend-an an-Invitation Add some international flavor to your Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter celebration by inviting an international student to share your holiday meal! This is a fantastic opportunity to show hospitality to students who may never have been to an American home or interacted with Christians. Please register online at www.ifipartners.org by November 14 for Thanksgiving and by December 15 for Christmas hosting. You must complete an application and attend an International Friendships, Inc. training before volunteering with IFI. In addition, all volunteers and their spouses must complete a background check before IFI will match volunteers for hosting or entertaining students in their home. Childcare upon request (through age 3) $5 donation Thank you Pastor Rick, Pastor Glenn and KRBC family so very much for your prayers, hospital visits and cards for our 6 year old great-granddaughter, Mia Woodring who was admitted to children’s Hospital–ICU 4th floor cardiac unit on September 9 after her heart, kidneys and brain were attacked by a virus which remains unidentified to date. She awoke on October 5th and is now able to be free of the machines that breathed for her, kept her heart beating and her kidneys functioning. She cannot walk or speak as yet, but is being moved this week to a step down unit to begin physical therapy soon along with speech therapy to follow hopefully. Please continue your prayers so that God may further work his miracle healing for this little girl. A special thank you to Pastor Rick for dedicating Mia on September 19.
