CALEA
The Commission on Accreditation for
Law Enforcement Agencies exists to
improve the delivery of public safety
services by maintaining a credible,
best-in-class body of standards which
are detailed and specific. Accreditation
is an opportunity to voluntarily demonstrate
the Tustin Police Department is
better trained, better managed and better
prepared. Our policies are in accordance
with national standards, providing
the Chief of Police a blue print for
efficient use of resources to improve
service delivery. CALEA’s ongoing
checks and balances allow us to show
the community we are one of the best.
Specifically, CALEA’s goals are to
consistently strengthen crime prevention
and control capabilities; formalize
essential management procedures; establish
fair and non-discriminatory personnel
practices; improve service
delivery; solidify interagency cooperation
and coordination; and increase
community and staff confidence in law
enforcement agencies and the public
safety sector.
