Report of the General Staff Committee to the Board of Trustees<br />

The following item was approved on November 27, 2010 by the General Staff and is presented to the Board of Trustees for<br />

approval.<br />

Bylaws Revision: 4.2 Active Staff; 4.2-1 Qualifications: The Active Staff shall consist of members who:<br />

have an office within the following geographic boundaries: The Pacific Ocean on the West, Imperial Highway on<br />

the North, Alameda to Henry Ford on the East, to the Pacific Ocean on the South. The boundary line on streets<br />

set forth herein shall be the center of such streets. Members in good standing who were appointed to the <strong>Medical</strong><br />

Staff prior to the date when the foregoing geographic boundary provision became effective shall be exempt<br />

from such geographic boundary provision. Such exemption shall be lost if such a member changes the address<br />

of his or her professional office to another location outside of such boundaries. For good cause shown in the<br />

best interests of patient care at the hospital and at the discretion of the Executive Committee of the <strong>Medical</strong><br />

Staff, an existing member of the staff may be granted an exemption from this geographic location requirement. A<br />

member may appear before the <strong>Medical</strong> Executive Committee to present his position. Failure of the Executive<br />

Committee to grant an exception shall not give rise to a right to a hearing under Article IX.<br />
