The <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> <strong>Science</strong> &<br />
<strong>Informatics</strong> aims to educate and inspire the<br />
next generation <strong>of</strong> national and international<br />
leaders in the discipline.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> has significant experience <strong>of</strong><br />
running MSc Programmes, both generalist<br />
(conversion) and specialist. This portfolio<br />
<strong>of</strong> MSc programmes has recently been<br />
updated to ensure the content is<br />
contemporary and relevant, placing<br />
emphasis on both research-led teaching<br />
(through specialist modules and<br />
programmes) and employability. The<br />
design <strong>of</strong> the new postgraduate taught<br />
course portfolio has been influenced by<br />
feedback from alumni, and industrial and<br />
academic experts.<br />
Many <strong>of</strong> our degrees are pr<strong>of</strong>essionally<br />
accredited by the BCS, the Chartered<br />
Institute for IT. Ensuring that our degrees<br />
are relevant to the latest demands from<br />
industry is a further highly regarded<br />
endorsement for potential employers.<br />
The portfolio has been designed to allow<br />
students to select the option that best fits<br />
their interests and career aspirations. The<br />
<strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers conversion Master’s degrees<br />
which provide the opportunity to transfer to<br />
a career in computing, whilst the specialist<br />
Master’s programmes provide graduates <strong>of</strong><br />
computing with the opportunity to enhance<br />
their knowledge, skills and understanding,<br />
through modules taught by research<br />
experts in a given area.<br />

and IT Management caters for those who<br />
wish to focus more on the managerial<br />
aspects <strong>of</strong> modern computing systems<br />

Joint Degrees<br />
This MSc Computational Journalism is a<br />
joint honours degree with <strong>Cardiff</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.<br />
It develops knowledge and skills through<br />
research-informed learning in digital<br />
journalism, data science, computer<br />
