The <strong>Sojitz</strong> <strong>Group</strong>’s <strong>CSR</strong> (corporate social<br />
responsibility) refers to activities undertaken to<br />
make the <strong>Group</strong> Statement a reality. We<br />
believe it is important for all of us to practice<br />
<strong>CSR</strong> in a natural way in all our activities.<br />

1. Business Activities in Consideration of Corporate Social Responsibility<br />
(1) <strong>Sojitz</strong>, as a member of international society and as a good<br />
corporate citizen, must actively contribute to the achievement<br />
of a sustainable society with due consideration for the spirit<br />
of cooperation and harmony in international business<br />
activities and corporate social responsibility.<br />
(2) <strong>Sojitz</strong> will hand over a rich and bright future on the earth to<br />
the next generation, by continuously conducting our activities<br />
for the preservation of the global environment, and by<br />
actively engaging in the resolution of issues of poverty and<br />
violations of human rights.<br />
(3) <strong>Sojitz</strong> must respect the spirit of fairness in every occasion of<br />
business activities, and oppose any discriminatory practices or<br />
treatment against, inter alia, race, nationality, religion or sex.<br />
(In the above, “<strong>Sojitz</strong>” refers to the <strong>Sojitz</strong> <strong>Group</strong>.)<br />
To ensure that <strong>CSR</strong> is practiced in our daily activities, Article 1<br />
of the <strong>Sojitz</strong> <strong>Group</strong> Compliance Code of Conduct sets out<br />
regulations for Business Activities in Consideration of Corporate<br />
Social Responsibility, which are known and observed<br />
throughout the <strong>Sojitz</strong> <strong>Group</strong>.<br />
<strong>CSR</strong> Committee<br />
The <strong>CSR</strong> Committee reports directly to the president & CEO and its<br />
activities are reported to the Management Committee. The <strong>CSR</strong> Committee<br />
makes recommendations pertaining to <strong>CSR</strong> to management, draws<br />
up basic policies and a framework for promoting <strong>CSR</strong>, and discusses<br />
issues such as community-based social contribution activities and others.<br />
