AFCI Cineposium o8 is pleased to offer regional topics with
global significance created by AFCI Caucuses, which represent
our network of AFCI members in the Middle East and Africa,
Europe, North America, Oceania and Asia. Sessions are designed
to foster dialog and share information about emerging trends
and issues that are impacting our industry.
Two special sessions were developed with the differences of
our member fIlm commissions in mind, from larger country,
state or provincial offices to smaller regional offices. Both
sessions are open to all members.
Breakout Sessions
Game On!
No longer a niche market in 2007, the video game industry generated
$9.5 billion in the US alone. And when you include development,
marketing and sales, the industry encompasses dozens of job
disciplines and employs tens of thousands of people worldwide (with
North America, Japan and UK the largest producers). This session
traces how the video game revolution affects the media industry and
how film commissioners can get involved.
Border Crossings: Co-productions
in the International Market
The film and TV industry has gone global, opening new opportunities
for filmmakers to raise finances across international borders. The possibilities
for co-production from sources across international borders has
made possible successful features, television shows and other screen
products. Find out where the money comes from, and how international
co-production affects the way you do business.
Regional Collaboration
Building a network of local film offices can strengthen your ability to
manage jurisdictional situations, promote your area, and provide
better service to your clients. Collaboration may include consolidating
marketing materials, joint website and location library development,
tracking statistical information, working together on location scouting
or developing standardized film permit.
