The United Nations Korea
Medal
The first of the medals awarded by the
United Nations
The proposal for this medal was
adopted by the UN in December 1950
and the regulations surrounding its
design and wear were prescribed in
1951.
The regulations allowed for this medal
to be struck together with the clasp in
the native language or the participating
countries. Consequently around 13
different issues have been seen
including two in Spanish, Two in French
and an unofficial Philippine issue in
Tagalog.
The majority of awards were issued in
the English language (around 2.75
million)
This medal could be earned without the
British Medal but ALL recipients of the
British Korea Medal received the UN as
well.
